MPWxpG readers,
My windows XP has a minor annoyance to me that I would like to remove.
The name on the end user license aggreement is misspelled and always
comes up on the signature on word and other documents. Is there a way
to correct the spelling in the registry or some other way. Any help
is appreciated in advance.

Yes. The method depends on which version of Office you are running.

You need to change the registered owner. Here's a web site where you can
download a program that will help with this problem.

Courtesy of Doug Knox, MS-MVP
Change the Registered Owner/Organization in Windows XP
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_change_owner.htm

If you prefer to do this manually, go to Start -> Run and enter regedit.exe in
the Open box.
In the Registry Editor, navigate to this registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

In the right hand pane, right click on RegisteredOwner and select Modify from
the menu.
Change the entry under Value data to the correct name. Click OK.
Close the Registry Editor.

You may have to restart your computer to see a change in About Windows.

For your Office programs, I think you'll have to look for an option within the
programs to change the user name.

Good luck

Run regedit and search for the misspelling and change it.

To change the name use the tool here and reboot
http://www.dougknox.com:80/xp/utils/xp_change_owner.htm
To change the name in Office 2007 open Ms Word and click the Office
Button->Word options button->Popular section
To change the name in earlier version of Office open Ms Word and select
Tools->Options->User Information Tab

Thanks to all that responded. When Nepatsfan identified where in the
registry the name was hidden, I changed it and wallah!!!! it was
corrected. Thanks again for your help. This newsgroup is
