My Document folder on Desktop is Missing

Can anyone help with this problem?

While trying to paste an item into "My Documents" folder on the desktop, it
suddenly disappeared.

I honestly don't know what to do to get it back. I've tried doing a system
restore taken only 8 hours before this event but that didn't help.

In the mean time, I have a shortcut to "my documents" placed on my desktop
but I am not satisfied with this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh, by the way, I am using XP Home edition and I do have the latest and
greatest updates as Microsoft has provided.

Thanks again,

J
