I'm using "Waterfox" as my browser & discovered that my bookmarks disappeared!

While waiting for Cindy, try this N3

  • Right click anywhere on your toolbar (other than inside the Search bar or Address bar) to bring up a context menu
  • Select "Bookmarks toolbar"

Cindy.......My Bookmarks vanished from "Waterfox". I don't need to copy/transfer anything from IE.

Dougie....I did a system restore & no bookmarks.

Cindy......What's in my IE favorites now are different then what 'was' in my waterfox bookmarks.

Whatever the case I'm resigned to the fact that my bookmarks are gone. Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Without wanting to step on Cindys toes.....Can you please answer these questions...

1. Did you uninstall Firefox before installing Waterfox?

2. When Waterfox is open, What is written at the left hand top of your screen?
Is it: File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help

If you can give these answers, we can proceed further.

No, I installed waterfox while firefox was already installed. Eventually I uninstalled firefox.
Yes to your second question.

Dougie explained this to me earlier on today and we both think there's still an outside chance that your bookmarks are intact.

Try the following...

Open your Waterfox browser...

1. At the top of your screen left click on "Bookmarks". (Between History & Tools)

2. Left click on "Show All Bookmarks".

3. Left click on the "Import and Backup" tab.

4. From the drop down menu move your cursor onto (hover) "Restore".

If you still have your bookmarks you will see a list like the image below. Your dates may be different than the pic.
If you do see a list, then go to step 5.
If you don't see anything in that menu...Then sadly you've lost your bookmarks for good...... :(

5. Left click on the entry at the top of the list.

6. Click "OK" in the box that appears.

7. Close the window and restart the Waterfox browser.

Hope this works out for you...

Thanks for writing an excellent, easy to follow Tutorial, Frank.
Will be a handy reference for Mozilla related Browsers re Bookmarks...
