Can someone please help me out. I have had an issue with my sound. I had to
partition my computer after my computer crashed and then i had to reinstall
the windows xp. After i had reinstalled windows xp, i had no sound. So i
decided to go check the device area and update/reinstall and there was a
button for reinstall. just before i was going to reinstall, i was reading in
the general area of the multimedia audio controller that " the drivers for
this device are not installed. So i hit the reinstall button then i would do
the regular search, not the specific location, and then i would click next
and then it would take a second and then it would come back and say " the
hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary
software. Then what i try to do is roll back the driver and then it says " No
driver files have been backed up for this device. Then i look at the driver
details and it says " No driver files are required or have been loaded for
this device. If someone could help me out i would appreciate it very much.
Thank you, s-barling

Somewhere in that paragraph, you mention "reinstall". That would
suggest a bunch of drivers would be missing. If the computer has
a make and model number, perhaps you can go to the web site
of the company that sold it to you, and download a driver ?

You need the drivers for the sound card. It is quite likely part of the
motherboard. If on the motherboard you need to obtain the driver CD for the
motherboard or download the sound drivers off the internet.
