I did not download or install Internet Explorer 7, yet the listing under
'Add or Remove Programs' indicates that I downloaded that program. (I use
Mozilla Firefox as my browser, although I use MSIE 5 to update.) Is it okay
for me to delete Windows Internet Explorer 7?

Why did the automatic download occur -- and I have Automatic Downloads
turned off?

Sincerely,

Barry Karas

Hi Barry,

With the "IETab" add-on for Firefox you will not have to leave FF to run
Windows Update.

IE Tab :: Firefox Add-ons

IE Tab looked good so I downloaded and installed it. But there is no
indication that I have it.

I clicked on my toolbar and an icon was there. I chose the option to update
Windows only when I clicked on the icon in my Start menu. Guess what? There
is no icon.

How would I update Windows from now on?

Sincerely,

Barry Karas

Hi Barry,

It's there but kind of hidden. There are several ways to access IETab.

1. Right click on a page and select "View this page in IETab".

2. At the following link look at the first image.
http://ietab.mozdev.org/screenshots.html
You will see an Internet Explorer icon in the status bar at the bottom
right. This page is running in an IETab. If the page is not running in an
IETab you will see a FF icon in it's place. Clicking on that icon will
toggle the page between FF and IETab. If you want to have a particular page
always open in an IETab, right click this icon, and in the "Sites Filter"
tab the URL will appear and an option to "ADD". Click ADD and this page will
always open in an IETab. You will want to do this at the "Windows Update"
site so it always opens in an IETab.

3. Open FF and right click on the icon toolbar (Navigation Toolbar) at the
top and choose "Customize". Scroll down and locate the IETab icon and drag
it to the icon toolbar.
