Recently got a Sanyo HDMI digital video camera but when I try to import the
downloaded files nto Moviemaker an error comes up saying Movie maker does not
support the file type. Do not know a lot about these things but can see the
extension on the new files is .MP4. Anyone know how I can get the movie
maker to acept these files. Can I change the extension so they are
recognised or what?. If so how do I do it

Grateful for any help as I am fairly new to all this

You can't just change the extension. You can't make a .txt file into a
..exe file for example.
Google MP4. There are some freeware conversion programs out there that
will change from one format to another. You might find one for MP4.
Check your camera to see if *you* have the ability to record in
different formats.
And you just might have found a flaw in the free movie maker program.
Oops! who would know MS does not support everything. Hmmm.

Leave your camera model and maybe someone can give you more help. You
lack a few specifics. I'm assuming you are talking about movie maker
2.x in XP not magix movie maker etc. But see, I'm assuming as you never
specified.

Good luck.
