Mouse stoped working with PS/2

Hi, I was using Microsoft USB wheel optical mouse with SP/2 connector.
Recently stoped working,and the light is off on the mouse, I tried another
SP/2 mouse, still does not work, but when I connect the mouse to USB port,
works fine. I think could be power supply problem, any idea?

It could also bet that the PS/2 (not SP/2) port for the mouse is now
"dead.'
 
SP/2 port doesn't always supply enough power to drive an optical mouse.
I even bought a new one thinking the old one was faulty and there was
nothing wrong with it.

I bought new USB mouse and it is a laser mouse MS INDUSTRIAL MM-705L.The
first time I pluged it in USB it worked fine but then I installed
software that came with my mouse and restarted my comp and now mouse
dont work,though its all buttons work perfectly fine but pointer do not
move.I tried everything(uninstalling drivers for my old and current
mouse) but it still does not move(the cursor I meen).My old mouse
worked perfectly fine and it was a ps2 mouse.Maybe that is the
problem???Maybe I should try to use the usb/ps2 converter???When I use
my old mouse and when I enter windows,in the taskbar I can see running
applications from the new mouse!!!???But when I plug in my new usb
mouse and restart and enter windows I do not see these applications
running!!!!So I came to the conclusion that drivers from new usb mouse
are working in ps2 mode but not in usb mode.SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME
PLEASE DO SO.
