Microsoft Defender for Cloud Monthly news October 2024 Edition

This is our monthly "What's new" blog post, summarizing product updates and various new assets we released over the past month. In this edition, we are looking at all the goodness from September 2024.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud While FIM based on MDE is now Generally Available, Defender for Container extends coverage to include Docker Hub container registry. This new extension within Defender for Container is in Public Preview. Click here to learn more about this public preview feature. Starting February 5th, 2025, you will not be able to activate the legacy Defender for Storage (classic) per-transaction storage protection plan unless it's already enabled in your subscription. We highly encourage you to transition to the Defender for Storage per-storage-plan for additional features such as malware scanning, sensitive data threat detection and future updates. For more details, please refer to our documentation. In August, our team published the following blog posts we would like to share: Introducing the new File Integrity Monitoring with Defender for Endpoint integration Learn how to enable agentless container security in Defender for Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and identify security risks across your container registries and Kubernetes, all without the need of an agent. Enable agentless container security in DCSPM through this updated lab. Discover how other organizations successfully use Microsoft Defender for Cloud to protect their cloud workloads. This month we are featuring Cofco Intl, a global agricultural commodities distributer, that relies on the Microsoft Security suite, including Defender for Cloud, Sentinel and Defender XDR, for a consolidated security posture, reduced total cost of ownership and complexity while strengthening its defense against cyberthreats. The Defender product integrations like Defender for Cloud and Defender for Endpoint provided simplified security management process across multiple teams.
