This may seem a stupid question. I have 2 computers. My old one has xp and i
only use it to download music using livewire. My new one has vista and i use
it for everything else. They are not connected in any way. There is no
personal info on my old computer. I have one cable modem. I disconnect one
computer from the modem when i want to use the other one so they are never
connected to the internet at the same time. If i inadvertedly download some
spyware/virus etc onto the old computer, is there anyway it can adversly
affect my internet connection with the new one or infect the new computer?

Hi alfred,

No - not unless the malware makes some unknown alterations to the firmware
and/or the settings in the modem itself.
