So I am trying to transfer some files and settings to my same computer that I had to re-install xp on.
I have used it before with no issue but not this time...
I saved the files (old) to my usb drive
1st of all it split it into 2 files which I thought was odd but I figured it was a size thing.
2nd I noticed they were .dat files not .unc like eveyone is talking about, but not until after I formatted and installed clean copy.
In any event I have all they updates done on new install so SP's match etc.
I then try to run migwiz and it doesn't recognize the file, I notice file saved as .DAT, I changed to .dat it starts to go
then it asks for disk 2 so I put the 2nd file in the same place as the first oh I forgot to mention it named both files the same...?
so then that file starts to go then it asks for disk 3... There is no disk 3!!!??
I hit enter it won't work I hit cancel it unloads all my stuff, I pissed and it says this;
An error occurred while the wizard was loading your data. The wizard cannot find your files and settings in the source location.
To close this wizard, click Finish.
ARRGH!
I have tried every thing I can think of to fake it out work around but nothing works and I will be screwed if I can't get some of these files back
