Migration to Exchange 2007 Oddities

A week or so ago we started running low on storage for our current
Exchange 2003 setup. Instead of slapping on more storage, we decided
to migrate to Exchange 2007 on a shiny new server with loads of
storage since we planned on doing it later this year anyways. The
installation of Exchange 2007 and the new server into our current
environment (having mail flow from outside to new server to old server
and vice versa worked great) and even the migration of mailboxes to
the new server worked perfect without any issues. Our BES also
switched over fine once we updated the MAPI profile for the BES Admin
account. There's just a couple of random issues that aren't causing
any trouble, just am curious to why they may exist and how to fix them
if possible.

1 -- A few of the transferred mailboxes are now listed as "Linked
Mailboxes" instead of plain old "User Mailboxes." I read up on the
fact that linked mailboxes are usually when Exchange is deployed into
a resource forest, but we are one forest, one domain, so that can't be
why they are listed as such. Any input on this?

2 -- The storage space on the old Exchange 2003 server has not freed
up since the mailbox move. Do we need to run some sort of cleaning/
truncating method on the Exchange DB on the old server?

3 -- The first "new" mailbox I setup on the Exchange 2007 server was
done via ADU&C and making an Exchange mailbox through that and placing
it on the new Exchange 2007 storage group. This mailbox is listed as
a "Legacy Mailbox" even though it has always resided on the Exchange
2007 server. Any insight on this?

4 -- Decommissioning the old server...simply just uninstall Exchange
and remove from the domain, or is there more to it?

Thanks for any help you guys and gals can be!

Hi - you will probably get more expert help if you post in
microsoft.public.exchange.admin. This is a general Windows server group, and
Exchange is its own beast. I'm not an E2007 guru (yet) so I can't explain
all the stuff you're seeing.....except for #4, in which case you might see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931. Best o' luck.
