Microsoft's first fitness tracker, the Microsoft Band, went on sale today across retail and online stores for $199. Featuring a total of ten sensors, the tracker also works with the iPhone via a free, downloadable app called Microsoft Health, which is now available on iTunes.
The Microsoft Band features a battery life of 48 hours, and is currently available only in the US. The fitness tracker allows you to monitor things like heart rate, steps, and general movement. Also included is the ability to measure UV exposure, and the band even tracks your stress levels through a galvanic skin response measure. Sleep tracking functionality is included as well.
The companion Microsoft Health app allows you to customize the look and feel of the Band, while providing a detailed view of your daily activities via 24-hour heart rate monitoring, automatic activity counting and guided workouts. You can also configure email and calendar alerts.
