From cloud platform to productivity to business apps, the Microsoft cloud is built for business at a global scale, and part of that is making the cloud more efficient and trusted for customers and partners around the world.

Last month we announced the expansion of Microsoft Azure which is now available in 19 regions around the globe. Today I’m excited to share that we’re expanding our global cloud footprint with the news that locally hosted versions of our cloud productivity suite – Office 365 – and our cloud business application – Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online – will soon be delivered to customers in Japan. Office 365 will be available by the end of this calendar year and CRM Online by the end of Q1 2015.

With increased demand for both Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM in Japan, we are fully committed to delivering the best possible service to this region. Office 365 brings ubiquitous collaboration, personalized insight and people-centric compliance to customers with over 150 features and updates in the last 12 months. Microsoft Dynamics CRM works seamlessly with Office and Power BI across mobile devices to help increase sales productivity, deliver smarter marketing, and boost customer loyalty, and Dynamics provides the core business apps for the Microsoft cloud spanning sales, marketing, customer care, commerce, financial management and operations for organizations of all sizes.

Now customers will be able to store their data in Japan, which provides another level of trust and flexibility. This is particularly important in industries such as healthcare, financial services and government where organizations need to keep their data in country to comply with local regulations. For existing Japanese Office 365 customers we will move their data from APAC to Japan, and we’ll have more to share about that closer to availability.

Today’s announcement marks an important step on our cloud journey – a journey to better serve our customers in Japan and around the world. With Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM services delivered from Japan we can serve our customers more effectively and with better performance while also ensuring compliance with local requirements.
