In Add or Remove Programs, I have the following:

Microsoft .NET Framework (English) v 1.0.3705

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Hotfix (KB928367)

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

Can I remove any of them?

Thanks!

Hans L

I wouldn't remove any Framework installed. If a web has used it (any
version) you would have problems.

You can, but you probably shouldn't. If you remove any, you will
probably find that some programs will fail. Higher-numbered versions
do not replace lower-numbered ones. A program that needs a particular
version will probably fail if that version isn't available.

They take up a tiny amount of disk space, so there's little to be
gained by removing anything.

Since you didn't quote anything of the previous messages, I'm not sure
if I'm the Ken you mention, but if so, you're welcome. Glad to help.

I'm reading this on the website, so I can see that there is only one Ken.
Even if you are using a newsreader, can't you see that there is only one Ken?
If not, sorry!

Regards,

Hans L

I have a similar problem to Hans. Can I remove Net Framework Service Packs
without affecting the underlying Framework installation? My latest is 3.5.

Thanks!

Many newsgroups participants (me, for example) do not save
previously-read messages because they clutter up our newsreader with
messages that normally don't need to be looked at again. I can't see
anything that's gone before, unless it came in with the same batch of
messages.

OK, no big deal.

A Service Pack is a bunch of improvements to the product it's a
service pack for. If you remove it, you would remove those
improvements, and that would be foolish.

The fact that your latest is 3.5 is irrelevant. Higher-numbered
versions don't replace lower-numbered ones. You need the appropriate
version for the program you're running and a higher-numbered version
usually won't work.

There could be more than one Ken, that is the point of quoting the thread
you are mentioning.
