Microsoft Movie Maker wont play movies, only displays one frame

I am trying to play videos I took on my digital camera. I uploaded them to the Movie Maker, but when I push 'play' it doesn't play the entire movie, instead the first frame remains visible the entire time while the clock counts up as usual. I'm using Windows 8.
