Hi,
I've just upgraded my laptop memory from 1 to 2gig.
Installation went fine and my computer / properties shows 2gig.
I'd like to ensure that I'm making full use of the extra memory and want to
know if there are any additional settings in XP that I should now change to
do this. maybe cache or others ...

any help appreciated.

If My Computer shows 2GB, then Windows knows it's there and is making
full use of it.

I would suggest doing a Google search for XP sevices tweaks and use
some of the tips in there to squeeze out more memory and performance.
With 2GB there's not really any cache tweaks as that's a decent amount
of RAM.

No, no settings are required. You are making whatever use of it is
possible.

But "full" use? Probably not. It depends on what apps you are running,
and how big are the files you open with them, but very few people
running Windows XP can make effective use of that much memory. Despite
the number of people who repeat the mantra "more RAM is better," it's
true only up to a point, and with Windows XP, 1GB is at or beyond that
point for most of us. Unless you do things like editing large
photographic or video files, 1GB is more than enough for most people,
and they will see no benefit by going beyond that amount.
