Today we honor the brave men and women who have given their lives for our country. As we reflect on their sacrifice and courage, we also celebrate the freedoms they preserved and the opportunities they made possible.

We have some "fallen heroes" who are still alive, some hanging on by a thread
physically, emotionally, and financially: Disabled veterans.


I wish the current Secretary of the VA would appoint President Jimmy Carter
as his adviser or to a VA board of directors (if there is one). During Carter's
administration I remember a VA that gave a damn about me and other
veterans.
