This is the next segment of our blog series highlighting Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors who achieved the Gold milestone, the highest level attainable, and have recently graduated from university. Each blog in the series features a different student and highlights their accomplishments, their experience with the Student Ambassador community, and what they’re up to now.
Today we meet John Aziz, who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Modern Academy for Engineering and Technology in Egypt.
Responses have been edited for clarity and length.
When did you join the Student Ambassadors community?
January 2021.
What was being a Student Ambassador like?
It was empowering to have a community of like-minded Ambassadors who have a passion for the same things I do. It was an opportunity for me to meet people from all over the world, organize events with them, work on different projects, learn from each other, and share things about our cultures and habits.
Was there a specific experience you had while you were in the program that had a profound impact on you and why?
I had the opportunity to collaborate with Olanrewaju Oyinbooke, who is a Senior Cloud Advocate with Microsoft.
We organized events to showcase Microsoft Technologies for Egyptian students, and with the help of Microsoft Egypt's local team, we planned a Microsoft Reactor session to inform students about the opportunities Microsoft offers.

Tell us about a technology you had the chance to gain a skillset in as a Student Ambassador. How has this skill you acquired helped you in your post-university journey?
I had the opportunity to leverage my Student Ambassador Azure subscription to learn about Azure AI. I was always fascinated by AI and machine learning, as they give machines the power to learn patterns from data. I started studying through the Microsoft Learn website and applying what I learned on Azure. I also pursued certifications - certifications are another benefit of being an ambassador.
What is something you want all students, globally, to know about the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Program?
It’s a community for you to grow up in. Microsoft will provide you with all the tools you need to apply what you have learned.
What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors, who are just starting in the program?
The program will give you back as much as you put in. If I hadn’t taken the initiative and shown that I was ready to help, I wouldn’t have received any of these opportunities.

Share a favorite quote with us! It can be from a movie, a song, a book, or someone you know personally. Tell us why you chose this. What does it mean for you?
"There is always hope." It motivates me when I get rejected too many times, feel hopeless, and even feel like nothing is going to work.
Tell us something interesting about you, about your journey.
I’m fortunate to be one of the first Ambassadors to be selected in my country.
