When did you join the Student Ambassadors community?

January 2021

What was being a Student Ambassador like?

The day I joined, I discovered an incredible opportunity to make a difference in communities, develop leadership skills, and gain access to mentorship, resources, and events. This program has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth, allowing me to positively impact others through technology. I've had the privilege of sharing knowledge, honing new skills, and inspiring others to explore technology-related fields. Through this program, I've been able to organize hackathons and even speak at events, which has enhanced my technique and communication skills. Additionally, the guidance I've received from Microsoft professionals has been invaluable, as it has allowed me to learn from industry experts and gain important insights into the field.

Was there a specific experience you had while you were in the program that had a profound impact on you and why?

I've had some truly enriching experiences, including hosting virtual conferences and workshops in diverse regions such as France, India, and Tunisia. One of my highlights was participating in the Global Microsoft Student Hackathon 2021 as a mentee under Archana Bhat and Kim Pratt. In this role, I helped with technical queries, project ideas, and prototypes, focusing on Azure products.

Additionally, I had the privilege of being mentored at the Microsoft Power Platform Bootcamp 2021 by Chloe Condon and Lee Scott. Here, I supported participants in creating projects related to business intelligence, app development, and app connectivity using Power apps. The most rewarding experience was my contribution to Microsoft's "ML (machine learning) for Beginners" repository under the guidance of Jen Looper, former Microsoft Cloud Advocate. This involved creating comprehensive lesson plans, including pre- and post-lesson quizzes, written instructions for lesson completion, solutions, assignments, and more.

Tell us about a technology you had the chance to gain a skillset in as a Student Ambassador. How has this skill you acquired helped you in your post-university journey?

Utilizing the skills gained from Azure and its services, I have successfully pursued roles within the technology industry where my Azure expertise has proven invaluable. My technical abilities - refined through the development of innovative tools to overcome language barriers by translating audio in videos to users' preferred languages - have enhanced my proficiency and ability to handle intricate challenges and achieve successful outcomes in my professional endeavors. This program has enabled me to showcase how the learning opportunities offered by the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors influence an individual's post-university journey and career advancement.

What is something you want all students, globally, to know about the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Program?

This program presents a remarkable opportunity for technology-driven students to actively participate in their local communities, cultivate leadership abilities, and access mentorship, networking, and valuable resources. It not only offers avenues for personal and professional growth through the acquisition of new skills, but also facilitates connections with like-minded peers and professionals, while enabling ambassadors to make a positive impact.

By becoming ambassadors, students gain exclusive resources, access to Microsoft products, services, learning materials, and events, granting them a distinct advantage in knowledge and expertise across diverse technologies. The program supports and encourages personal and professional development by challenging students to explore new areas of interest, develop problem-solving skills, and forge a path for their future careers and endeavors. These Student Ambassadors play a pivotal role in their communities by sharing knowledge, fostering the growth of new skills, and inspiring others to explore technology-related fields, thereby making a meaningful contribution to the global tech community. In summary, the MLSA (Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors) program offers a highly valuable experience for technology enthusiasts, providing abundant opportunities for skill development, mentorship, networking, and personal growth, along with the chance to create a positive impact on communities worldwide.

What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors, who are just starting in the program?

Make it a priority to attend all orientation or training sessions provided to gain a comprehensive understanding of your role as a Student Ambassador and familiarize yourself with the specific expectations and opportunities within the program. Take the initiative to explore and familiarize yourself with your campus, academic programs, organizations, and available resources. This will enable you to confidently respond to inquiries and provide accurate information to prospective students, parents, and other visitors. If necessary, attend workshops or seek mentorship opportunities to further enhance your skills. Cultivate a genuine interest in assisting and supporting others and strive to create an accessible and welcoming atmosphere for all those you interact with. Utilize your institution's social media platforms to connect with fellow Student Ambassadors and prospective students. Share your experiences, provide updates, and foster a sense of community. Stay organized by keeping track of your commitments, tasks, and events. Utilize calendars, planners, or digital tools to ensure you remain on top of your responsibilities as a student ambassador. Foster a collaborative spirit by actively working with your fellow Student Ambassadors and offering mutual support. Embracing teamwork and maintaining a positive attitude will contribute to the program's success. Attending a variety of campus events, engage with alumni, and establish connections with faculty and staff. Networking not only allows you to represent your institution more effectively but also benefits your future career prospects. Lastly, remember to relish your time as a Student Ambassador, as it provides an exceptional opportunity for skill development and networking and a chance to positively impact your campus community.

Share a favorite quote with us! It can be from a movie, a song, a book, or someone you know personally. Tell us why you chose this. What does it mean for you?

One of my favorite quotes is from the renowned physicist Albert Einstein: "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” I chose this quote because it serves as a reminder to prioritize meaningful contributions over superficial accomplishments. For me, this represents the importance of focusing on the impact we can have on others and the world around us, rather than solely striving for personal success or recognition. By seeking to be of value, we cultivate a sense of purpose and aspire to create positive changes within our communities, which in turn can lead to lasting satisfaction and happiness in our lives.

Tell us something interesting about you, about your journey.

I am thrilled to share some interesting highlights from my journey! As a student, I have achieved the prestigious Software Development Engineer (SDE) Intern role at Turtlemint in 2023 and previously interned as an SDE Intern at Truminds in 2022. Along the way, I've also earned five Microsoft certifications, highlighting my dedication to expanding my technical knowledge and skills. In addition, I had the honor of being selected as a Google Season of Docs winner in 2021, which allowed me to contribute to open-source projects and gain valuable experience in technical documentation. I am also proud to have been recognized as a Gold Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, a program milestone that allowed me to inspire and support fellow students in their learning journeys. Lastly, I had the privilege of being a finalist in the Smart India Hackathon 2022, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals and work on innovative solutions to real-world challenges. These experiences have shaped me into a well-rounded individual, equipped with technical expertise, a passion for learning, and a drive to make a positive impact in the technology industry.
