Media Player or Media Center

I want to set my autoplay defaults but I don't know if I should set them for
Media Player or Media Center? I am really not sure what the difference is? I
don't want the autoplay to open and ask me every time, so I want to make some
choices here. I watch movies and the things that come to me from friends, and
whatever it is that opens with those automatically, I all I need, but I want
to set the autoplay to only those, so that will not keep coming up and asking
me what I want to open. H.E.L.P.

Yep, really dumb Microosft marketing. I don't know the difference either
along with most other vista users...

Media Player is a faster, leaner option Media Center is a fuller, richer
option. Pick the one you prefer.

Media center is designed for the "10 foot experience". Use Media Player, it
usually comes up quicker.
Use Media Center if you have all your media already organized into folders,
then add them to the Media Center library. Since you say you just want to
view video that others may have sent you as one example, once again I
recommend Media Player as the default.

Media Player is for playing music and video on your PC. That's all (although
confusingly it can share stuff to other PCs and Xbox 360s)
Media Centre is for playing music and video on your PC, but is designed to
look and feel more like a TV, in fact if you have a TV Tuner it can let you
watch and schedule TV recordings. Media Centre is easier to control using a
remote - some folk connect they PC up to a big 50inch flatscreen, media
centre is designed for this.
If you have an XBox 360 on the same network, then you can view your Media
Centre screen via the Xbox.
