Can someone recommend to me the best practice for creating a desktop icon that points directly to the CD/DVD drive for users attached to a mandatory profile? We push a locked down desktop to our end users showing only a few icons, but would like to add a path to the CD rom drive without providing a My Computer icon.
We've had issues so far with our initial steos. So far with the way we push the desktop CD/DVD drive icon, it only displays if the user logs into the domain and a CD/DVD is already in the drive. If one isn't, the icon won't display, if they then insert a CD, a logoff and relogin needs to occur to show it.
Desktops are Windows XP SP3, domain is Windows 2003.
