Hello

I installed the Vista service pack and now I have a bunch of problems
with my laptop.

1. Windows Audio Service will not start. According to the Windows
website, this should be an easy fix, but I have followed all their
instructions and its still broken. I have been exchanging emails with
their tech support and they can't seem to fix it either.

Window Audio Service has three dependencies. One of those, Multimedia
Class Scheduler, will NOT run. It gives an error and says "access
denied".

The Vista tech support suggested that I open regedit and edit something
in there, but...

2. Regedit will not open. It says "clb.dll is either not designed to
run on Windows or it contains an error." The tech guy keeps sending me
back the same instructions to try and fix this: try it in safe mode,
try it using a different user account, etc. None of it is working and
it has been over a month.

I have tried sfc/scannow but with no results. cbs logfile returns
nothing either.

This. I don't even really know how to describe this. Can anyone help me
fix this? I can't click on windows after I click out of them, they just
become these empty blocks on the bar. Help!

Thanks guys

Do these functions all return to normal when you uninstall SP1? I would try
that and then use MS's free support for SP1 when you reinstall it if the
symptoms return.

Try making a fresh user account, and see if that works okay.

ss.

Colin: I have tried to uninstall Sp1 but I can't find it in the view
Windows Updates thing. It's just... not there. But it apparently is
installed.

Censored: I have already tried to perform these actions with a new user
account.
