My system boots up as far as the desktop graphic but does not load short
cuts, start button or task bar so I have to start applications from the
windows task manager (ctl/alt/del file - new task run ). Any suggestions
please or how to get to restore options without the start icon. Right click
on desk top - nothing happens

Thanks for the reply. Repair tool seems to give me back the settings
momentarily ( got me really exited for a minute) but then disappear again.
Don't really fancy the xp repair option unless last resort. Best regards John

Something is changing your registry on a real time level. I would investigate
what is running.

msconfig
or
