We updated internet explorer. Now I cant restore the Icons or the start or
menu bar for windows xp. The wallpaper is there but I have to use task
manager to use my computer and not everything is available. HELP please.

Have you checked to see if there is a restore point that is dated prior to
the onset of the problem?

Hi Ron,
I did try a restore point from about a month ago and it did not change. I'm
not sure why that didnt work. Thanks

Can you boot in safe mode? If so, perhaps you can identify the update and
uninstall it.

Hi dale1959,

Open the Task Manager. From the File menu select "New Task".Type
"explorer.exe" without the quotes. Your desktop should now appear.
Un-install the Internet Explorer update that /may/ have caused this
situation by using Add / Remove Programs which can found in the Control
Panel.

Was the update a security update for IE or IE6 to IE7 upgrade?
