Hello,
I couldn't find a group for Longhorn (or 2008 server). I have a
problem with Data Execution protection, whenever I open a web page
that is a pdf file DEP closes internet explorer. There doesn't seem to
be a way to stop this, if I add the Adobe programs as exceptions it
still happens. Is there a way to turn off DEP?

May be you need to change the settings in acrobat not to open in the web
page but open in acrobat its self. Had similar problem with ie7 on xp
