Let me start by saying i've read several other related threads on this topic,
and so far none seem to fit my case. Turned PC on one day to find a log on
prompt that I had not set up.. I'm unable to log on as admin, or even start
my PC in safe mode. Only thing that seems to work is bios setup. I've also
tried a password breaker program on blank disc, but my comp won't boot from
the cd.. gives me option.. but then acts as if i have no keyboard plugged in.
Also XP HE was preinstalled on my pc and I have no backup/install discs! help
plz -b

Disconnect the hard disk, and try booting to CD again. If you can't, the
problem has nothing to do with XP or the hard disk. Try another keyboard,
perhaps a USB keyboard (or PS/2 if yours is USB).

HTH
-pk

Disconnected cables and re-attached but saw no difference. My keyboard
doesn't seem to respond until i reach the Log-in screen. Is there any way i
can do this myself or will i have to pay someone?

Did you do as Mr. Keenan suggested and try another keyboard? If you are
using a PS/2 keyboard (little round connector), try a USB keyboard and
vice versa.
