Locating a file opened in Windows Live Mail but did not save

I was working on a paper for class. I sent it from my work email to my personal Hotmail email account using windows live. For the past 2 days I have been just saving it as I have been working on it, never closing the document. I finished it and closed it. When I went to submit the assignment it was nowhere to be found. I spent so much time working on this 10 page assignment and it is worth 50% of my grade. Is there anyway to recover it ?


A friend recommended I do as system restore, I tried that but it was still lost in cyberspace.
