Is it typical for this computer to not recognize certain mouse
devices?

I was using a mouse I had laying around while I was tuning up this
recently acquired diamond in the rough, but when I took it over to my
daughter's we tried plugging in two different scroll type mice, we are
unable to navigate the cursor over to the user login icon, and
therefore are locked out of the computer until I can take the original
mouse that worked over to the Dell's new location.

I'll change the user prefs once I get logged in so no login will be
required, but still am perplexed as to why we're having this problem.

Maybe if the system could start, it would recognizer a new device and
load the drivers.
The mice are Logitech and were previously used with XP PC's.

For the present situation, is there a work around?
Thanks

Try:

- the cursor keys, or Tab key.

- stating whether the two mouse devices are USB.. it's possible an older
system won't see a USB device unless the BIOS is set to "Legacy USB
Support" or a similar setting.
