Keyboard Properties Identifies Wrong Manufacturer

I recently (days ago) purchased a Logitech MX Revolution mouse. Part of the
installation involves installing Logitech Setpoint software. Anyway the
issue began when I attempted to fix a software issue. I uninstalled
Setpoint, and then noted my PS/2 Microsoft Internet keyboard would not work.
Only after installing Setpoint would the keyboard work.

I went into the device manager and on right-clicking on Properties noted the
manufacturer is identified as Logitech not Microsoft.

Is there anyway I can make the correction so that my keyboard is identified
correctly? I am assuming I created the problem at some point when I was
messing around with all the uninstalling and installing the software.

thanks, Bob

Think a high percentage of ms products are rebranded logitech... have
seen their name on drivers and software from ms and a number of other
"brands"

The "identification" is not critical... working hardware is... do you
have the installation disks? If so, simply reinstall, if not, download
from ms and install.

This is Microsoft keyboard, not logitech. I am assuming Microsoft
manufacturers their own.

I do not have the instalation disk. I had attempted to download from
Microsoft, but I am unsure if it is the correct location. The Microsoft
keyboard properties settings device also shows the keyboard as being
manufacturer as Logitech. Is it possible this was manufactured by Logitech?

Microsoft and Logitech hardware are quite different.

It is much more likely that in the past, the original 'default' keyboard inf
file might have been overridden by some Logitech keyboard inf file, and
because they are 'similiar' enough, the keyboard shows up in device manager
with the Logitech description.

If it bothers you so much, you could remove it and let the computer
re-detect it. But it shouldn't significantly change functionality.

You can get the drivers for Microsoft keyboard/mice here
