keyboard layout issue

I have a Japanese Toshiba laptop, which of course has a Japanese layout
keyboard, 87 keys(I counted). After replacing my HDD and installing English
WindowsXP, I can not get it to recognize correctly. The 2 button when shifted
displays @ and not quote, and the open/close parentheses are shifted one key
to the right. How can I fix this? I've tried ControlPanel/Regions &
languages, but to no avail. Please help. Letters and numbers are OK, but
symbols are ... like playing CONCENTRATION. Also, CAPS LOCK doesn't work.

Try installing the Multilingual User Interface Pack

MUI is not applicable for WindowsXP Home.
