keyboard freezes at set up screen won't let me reinstall software

Hi - I just replaced my hard drive ( 2nd one) and have boot to the CD TO
reinstall the software - the keyboard freezes at the set up screen and won't
let me reinstall ( I replaced keyboard) help Windows xp professional 2002
- DEll Dimension 8400

Borrow someones keyboard that is Not a USB connection (use a PS2 connection)
