My pc has been trying to install these 2 patches since last week to no avail. I had .NET 3.5 installed and working (I think) but both patches simply come back unable to install with no apparent error codes.
I have visited this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/923100 regarding issues installing .NET updates and tried both methods listed and have wiped everything reinstalling as far as I can 3 times!
My PC is running XP Home Edition SP3 with Norton AV and Zone Alarm Pro.
I can get to .NET 2.0SP1 but cannot install 3.0 or 3.5 as both fail.
I have been working on this issue for 5 days now and have spent 5 hours on it today alone.
I'm sorry but I wish Microsoft would just leave things alone when they are working ok. I remember the last time a patch was installed for 3.5 it kept freezing my system while it tried to install and it was only after doing an Install Clean Up that these would install.
The error log at the end of 3.0 shows the following but as I am not a microsoft engineer I can make no sense of it.
