I have an original WinXP Pro with SP2 setup CD. I created a new setup CD
with SP3 slipstreamed into it and reinstall my system using this setup CD.

WinXP Automatic Updates still picks up the following:

1) KB898461 Software update 898461 installs a permanent copy of the Package
Installer for Windows version 6.1.22.4

2) KB942763 Daylight Saving Time update

Just want to compare notes with everyone with a similar setup (that is:
WinXP Pro with SP3 slipstreamed). Is this normal? Doesn't SP3 include the
above updates?

Thanks much.

I did not slipstream. I did an XPSP2 install and then manually
installed SP3 after getting up and running.

Oddly enough I got notified this morning that 898461 needs installing.
I have SP3, and checked the list of hotfixes and this is part of it.
So I should not be getting the update. What is MS doing?
I wonder should I update this?

And DeeJay if you are asking is 942763 part of SP3, see
http://www.docu-track.com/downloads/users/ for a full list of patches
in SP3. And yes it is part of SP3.

And if you go to manually update, it says it needs to install new
software before it can check your system. And sure enough the installer
it is trying to load is KB898461, an SP3 update.

I may have an answer for KB942763 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942763).

My WSUS3 last synchronization (May 28 morning) detected 2 new updates, one
of them is KB942763. I guess that KB may have been updated and re-released.

I know MS re-releases the malicious spyware tool every month but I was
almost sure everything else was static once released. Kinda like
changing SP3? NOT!

Thanks John. It seems reasonable for this timezone update.
