hello dear linux-experts

on opensuse 13.1 i have certain issues setting up mysql / mariadb

SDB:MySQL installation - openSUSE
Quote:
Follow these instructions to install and use MySQL MariaDB (standard default database) on Open SuSE Linux 13.1 64-bit edition.

Open YaST and go to Software Management. Open it and search for package named "mariadb". Select it and accept changes to install.
Mysql server package itself will be included as one of the dependencies. You may also select and install other mysql packages. Finish.
Open YaST and go to Services Manager. Select mysql service and start/enable it. In version 13.1, this is sufficient to have MariaDB
running in the background. In previous versions, it was also required to execute in console the following: mysql_secure_installation,
which sets the passwords, configures basic options and sets the server for production environment.
what can i do -

the funny thing - if i have a closer look at the software.installation-fields in YAST - then i get back the information that i have installed MARIADB all ready.

but in the System-Services-Runlevel-Manager i cannot see MariaDB -
i only see Mysql.

what can i do now

on a sidenote: i have set up Apache successfully. - this works very well.

look forward to hear from you
