Original Title: window update failed loop

Hi, I recently refreshed my laptop(asus g75vw windows 8) in order to fix issues caused by ultrauxthemepatcher. Worked just fine. I began reinstalling windows updates from a practicality blank drive(had moved most if not all the stuff I had to an external). The updater ran the first batch of updates it found with ease. The second batch coming in at 83 updates failed somewhere in. It began reverting changes. After waiting for it to complete, it restarted only to resume the failing process. It is now on the third fourth loop around... and counting

I have read other posts suggesting using the update checker tool, which I would love to use but can never get into windows to use. Its stuck.

What should I do? What are my options? Is there a way out of this loop?

This is really frustrating.

I hear this is caused by corrupt updates.

EDIT: I have patiently waited to see what I would end up with. Surprisingly windows fixed its self(kinda) and onlly rejected the last 13 updates leading up to 8.1

Had enough for one day. Currently creating a restore point and image from here. I will post here again if I have anymore issues going a head.

EDIT2: I have been mistaken, After re checking updates and viewing history I can see that only the first batch of updates were the only ones installed. ALL of the 83 and now counting up to 119 updates are left to install( they failed to install).

I have now updated all my drivers to make sure that there would be less compatibility issues. As I know asus can be finicky with windows updates in that regard.

I have began running http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/en-us in hopes that it will solve issues.
After which I will resume with doing updates for every 3 month spans at a time... This is going to be a long drawn out process....

Any advice is welcome.
