Is It Possible to Use an Installation DVD's Boot Sector On A USB Drive and If So How?

I created a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 installation material by copying the contents of the DVD to it, making the partition active and running BOOTSECT. The drive boots alright but it doesn't have the code in the boot sector that gives you the press any key to boot from drive and then times and boots from the hard drive.
Anyway of getting that on the USB drive?
