Windows 2003 Is it posible to close open or unneeded ports

Hi:

I scanned my server for vulnerabilities, and fong a few of open ports that I
dont need. Exist a way to close them, directly at the server, without using
the firewall.?

I can remove some IIS's services like nntp, smtp, but I would like to close
the rest.

A very small one is tinyproxy. It can be used for free and creates logs that
would suits your needs.

Sure, TCP/IP filtering on the local area connection or IP Security
Policies on the Local Machine.

Hi,

You can close ports and protocols at the IP (Kernel) layer in Win2k / 2k3
etc. by setting this up in the advanced IP properties. Pick any NIC and
select "Internet Protocol / Advanced / TCP/IP Filtering". Note, this will
affect all traffic on all NIC's.
