Is if safe to use such software

Hi all

We have a network of about 200 pc's. Approx 70 of them are directly
connected to the servers (LAN) and the rest use their internet to connect to
the exchange server. We have Cisco 1800 series router that we use for voice
and data. We have VPN tunnels that has been setup for the voice side; that i
use to connect to the sites remotely via Remote Desktop. Some one has
recommended the software below. Will this make my network vulnerable and
provide gaps for outsiders or is it a handy tool to have and use:

In short, yes, it will make your network less secure. The question really
is: will it take the security of my network below my tolerance for risk?

Using the 1800 router, you can certanly use the cisco VPN client to
authenticate to the network and access your internal systems. This is fairly
industry standard. Is it worth going against the industry standard to use a
dirrerent tool? What does it bring you?

I would personally stick with the known risk of the VPN client that is on
the forefront of technology -- especially if you have an AES image on the
router. Goign with the other software is an unknown risk and they will not
have the expertise or industry backing of Cisco... or Microsoft.

Yeah that is one way to put it... here's another:

Security is about managing risk. It is nearly impossible to manage an
unknown.
