Apple, typically tight-lipped about such things, says that pre-orders for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new overnight record for the company. The newest iPhones went live for pre-order at midnight Pacific time last night, and while there was plenty of glitching along the way, that didn't stop many from getting in their order. Apple isn't alone in the new bigger iPhones being an overnight pre-order hit — AT&T's said that pre-order demand for the phones was greater than the last two phone launches.
In a statement to Re/code, Apple said:
"Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible with a record number of preorders overnight."
Of course, that's a vague block of time, "overnight", but a record number is still a record number. To put things into perspective, Apple didn't offer pre-orders for the iPhone 5s, but did for the iPhone 5 — and pre-sold more than 2 million in the first day.
Pent up demand for a larger screen iPhone seems to be getting released here for sure. So who pre-ordered, and what did you get?
