I am not blessed with a machine that has HDMI out, so as you could imagine, getting my display up on my TV is a few steps further then plug and play. Right now I am using a LinkStyle VGA-HDMI converter and it does ok, but the picture is less than desirable, and carrying around the power, VGA, HDMI, and 3.5 audio cables is annoying. So I did some research and found a USB driven external video card from IOGEAR. But before I buy I need to know if it will work with ubuntu 12.04 without much trouble? They offer driver support off the website (which currently will not load up) but im not sure if they support linux in any way. Im also concerned about the video quality going out through USB. Web browsing or a slide presentation is one thing but what about streaming video? any opinions welcomed and thanks in advance.
