I am getting an error message when opening Internet Exployer 7 and have to
abort sometimes it locks the Windows XP SP2 computer and I have to cold
reboot.
Help. Wayne.

Error1:
Debug Assertion Failed
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio8\vc\Include\List
:Line 309
Expression: List Iterators Incompatible

and sometimes Error2:
Debug Assertion Failed
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\vs\Include\xtree
:Line 293
Expression: map/set Iterators Incompatible

Please try the IE7 group.
The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

When you repost, please give correct names, e.g.
Internet Exployer 7 is really Internet Explorer 7
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe should be C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Not too sure of your other names, but please check them for
correctness to save any misunderstanding.

....Alan

You may have a damaged Add-in. Run IE without add-ins to test that. start/all
programs/../system tools/IE(No Add Ins).
If this works, disable your addins one at a time till it works (tools menu,
"Manage Add Ins")
If not, you could try removing the checkmark from "enable third party
browser extensions" at IE, tools menu, options advanced tab. (restart)

Thanks Alan, and sorry about the typo errors.
I was reading other posts and decided to try something.
To disable the following:
I have AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and Norton Internet Security 2006.
I set the AVG to not start when Windows XP starts and on the Norton Internet
Security I set:
-Basic Security auto protection - off
-Automatic LiveUpdate - off
-Web Browsing Personal Firewall - on
-Web Browsing Intrusion Protection - off
-Web Browsing Spyware Protection - off

After doing the above I shut-down & rebooted the Windows XP computer
So far, all seems fine and have not had that reoccuring error messages or
lock-ups
with abort/retry when using IE7
