instructions for eliminating Sonic Activation Module dialog box

Each time I start my cpu a dialog box appears titled: Sonic Activation Module. The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Please insert disk and press OK.

I have no idea why the box appeared and though it seems innocuous I'd like to get rid of it.

Any ideas???
