I know that you can install the TS licensing role on either a member server
or a domain controller but are their any benefits of installing it on a DC?

Thanks,

J

Not really. When installed on a DC, the LS is autodetect more easy,
but you can easily overcome that by pointing the TS to the LS, either
in Terminal Services Configuration or a GPO.
Another advantage could be that you already have a backup job running
on your DC, making it easy to backup the LS database on the DC, while
you probably don't have a backup job running on your TS (which
shouldn't store any data).
