Vista does not have a "run" option that I can find, like Windows XP & Windows
2000 have. I cannot install a program my son sent me - can you help?

Really depends WHAT he sent you. If some .exe file all that should be
necessary is double click on it's icon and it should start. If it is
some program that needs to be installed look for setup or something
similar then double click on that.

If you really want the run command, click the start button, then type
run, shortly you should run in the list. Click it, then enter the name
of the object, file, folder, whatever and Vista should open it.

You can access the Run command by pressing <WIN_LOGO_KEY>+<R>

Alternatively, you can add the run command back to your start menu by
following this tutorial :

Why do you need a "run" command to install a program via a CD?
..

find the installer, right click and select run as administrator
on the right click menu for an .exe file, open should do what run used to
