This is it. Macworld|iWorld 2014 kicks off today, and Peter Cohen and I are here to help. Peter is teaming up with the Macworld magazine crew to to shoot video interviews with some of the best and most interesting app and game developers and accessory vendors at the show. They'll be available for your viewing and commenting pleasure at some point that is soonish! I'll be joining Macworld's Jason Snell State of Apple panel to help open the show, then will be doing the Vector show live with Don Melton and Matt Drance, then doing a talk on the "contextual awakening", or how Apple is using sensors and networks to make mobile truly brilliant. You can find all the details below, and make sure you follow @flargh and @reneritchie for all the latest updates!

  • The State of Apple Technology: Thursday, 10am on the Main Stage, Jason Snell, Senior VP, Editorial Director, IDG Consumer & SMB will be moderating a panel with Ben Bajarin, Principal, Creative Strategies, Inc., Christina Warren, Senior Tech Analyst, Mashable, and yours truly. Here's the blurb: Macworld Senior VP and Editorial Director, Jason Snell opens Macworld//iWorld leading a panel of fellow Apple industry watchers through a discussion of The State of Apple 2014. Expect the panel to share insights on competitive positioning (and competitors), current technology implementations, social issues, and offer some prognostication on future products and technologies. Whether your a casual or hard core fan, industry player, developer or media person, you’ll enjoy this fast moving conversation about all things Apple.

  • Vector show live. Thursday, March 27, 2pm PT. From the Macworld Live stage, former director of internet technology at Apple, Don Melton, and former Apple evangelist, Matt Drance will join me to discuss the future of apps, native vs. web components, CarPlay, how they'll all work and what will make it all possible.

  • CF812: The iOS Awakening: How Touch ID, iBeacon, Siri and Sensors Will Make Mobile Truly Brilliant: Thursday, 3pm. I'll be talking about all the new technologies and how Apple is bringing them together to make our devices even more personal, useful, and powerful. Here's the blurb: With Touch ID, our Home buttons know who we are. With Siri, our microphones can understand what we want. With iBeacon, Bluetooth can tell us what we need to know. With the M7 coprocessor, our iPhone can figure out how we’re moving. In the future, iSight might even know our face. It’s a slow process, partially because we’re pushing the limits of technology, but also because we’re pushing the limits of comfort as well. But right now, all around us, our technology is becoming aware. If Apple has had one single, relentless purpose over the years, however, it’s been to make technology ever more personal, ever more accessible, and so very much more human. The contextual awakening is what’s coming next.

Anything you want covered or talked about? Let me know!
