Is it normal for IIS to not immediately recognize new versions of a web page that I just FTPed up to it?

The index.HTML page is made up of many .GIFs (yuck). One .GIF I replaced, but the server still serves up the old one. I even deleted the file off the server, and resent up the new .GIF ... but it still shows the old one!!!

Clear you browser cache. Any change you make will show instantly.
Something I have found since I switched to IIS last year. If you overwrite files sometimes it doesn't work. I now delete the file I want to overwrite and then upload the new one.

I did delete it last night, and uploaded the new one. It still showed the old one - until this morning. Now it shows the right one. I even FTPed the file back to my PC last night and it was correct...the server just showed the old one for a while. It must be some kind of cache on the server? I would like to know how to "force" the use of the new file right away. I'll search the Net a bit and post any findings.

IIS isn't doing it. It is your browser cacheing the file. Make sure you have "Cache Thumbnails" unchecked in the browser advanced options.

I don't see "cache thumbs" in my Advanced Options, but I cleared out the Temporary Internet Files and I check the option to Check For New Versions of Page = Every Visit.

It is still happening for another new image I sent up today. I even checked on a browser on a different computer that never went to the website, and the same thing is happening.
