Nothing New. Just FYI. Ubuntu Doesn't Run Any Decent Programs. Just FYI.
Ubuntu Is In A Small Number Of PC's. Just FYI.

Ubuntu Is A Total Waste Of Time And Effort. Just FYI. I Use Windows Vista
RTM And SP1 And I Have On My Other Machine Windows 2008 Server. Just FYI.

My Dad Said That If I Continue To Use Ubuntu Then I Am A Retard. Just FYI.

I'm not running Vista nor Microsoft Outlook Express.

I do read many Linux newsgroups and have formed the opinion that many
learned people have installed Linux. I have installed several releases
of Ubuntu as a dual boot with WinXP Pro to see whether it suited my
needs.

I'm currently running WinXP Pro and not running Ubuntu .

Great. I hope you are very happy using Ubuntu.
BTW I don't participate in forums, I prefer newsgroups.

Works fine for me too. What I like about Ubuntu is fast and dispels that
it is a hardware issue. Vista performed poorly on this system, but
Ubuntu is doing nicely. It has 8GB RAM so XP 32 bit, would be a waste.
And XP x64 - would be a double dip. And I can't test XP x64 since they
removed the trial version a month ago.

Yeah, and in the ubuntu newsgroup I see more trolls and windows bashing
than I see actual ubuntu help.

Maybe because it is a better OS, one that does not need as much tinkering
to run well.

yeah right. I actually ran ubuntu for a short time. It did some of the
things I wanted but I like to play games that can only be run in windows
.. wine I found to be quite a mess and could never get it to work quite
right. The thing with Windows is, it just works. I install a program,
and it runs. That is all I need, for the OS to do what I want it to do.
I have found ubuntu tends to require a lot of work arounds and such to
install anything not on its repository menu.

It might be a "better OS" for some, but not for me. I'll stick with
Windows, currently XP Pro, someday, maybe Vista or Win7. We shall see!

I think you have made a wise decision. When you do contemplate changing,
keep your current approach. Make sure your devices and games work on the
target before you jump. Some of those games can also be video card
dependant.

I agree, wine while it works for many things it is a clunker. You will
not catch me recommending it often.

Yes, just like XP, Ubuntu can have many install methods. Some less
popular older stuff needs the old fashioned "tar xf file cd file make
make install" to do stuff. But that is rapidly getting better. In fact,
I found everything I needed this last go around.

I'm glad you're experiencing no problems. I hope everything works well
for you. However, I disagree with your comment about people in Linux forums,
or COLA, offering help. I go to the various Linux forums and COLA two or
three times a week to learn what's new but all I see, for the most part, are
Windows bashers and Microsoft haters.

Hating Microsoft and bashing Windows is a requirement to abandoning
Windows and being solely a linux user.

Do you mean that when people get disgusted with Microsoft, they look for
alternatives? How strange. Why do you think that Microsoft generates so
much hate? Could it possibly be their business practices?

Proly more so when they can no longer steal MS software and are
broke...like you.

How strange.

You tell me?

Why do you think that Microsoft generates so
> much hate?

People generate the hate, MS is simply their target.

Could it possibly be their business practices?

I seriously doubt that many people have any cause to know or even care
about MS's business practices. Like I said, those who hate MS have in
some manner been affected by them...i.e., WPA, WGA...stopping the
thieves...like you.

LOL! WPA and WGA doesn't stop thieves, you moron! It *does*
inconvenience paying customers, though. You, of course, when asked to
bend over by MS, reply, "how far?".
