Sisil K.

I've recently upgraded from IE7 to IE8, and I'm running Windows XP with SP3.

My problem with IE8 stems from using Facebook. Whenever I try to upload

photo's, first, I'm told I must install ActiveX Controls, and all of a

sudden, an error message pops up. The message says, and I quote

"iexplore.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x10160068" referenced memory at "0x10160068". The

memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Click on CANCEL to debug the program"

When I click on OK, all the page tabs get blocked with a small message

saying "Web Page Error - Internet Explorer has closed this page to help

protect your computer". I can't browse the Internet until I close and restart

IE8.

If I click on CANCEL, the the browser hangs, until it either exits by

itself, or I have to close it using Task Manager.

I haven't an idea what to do! Please help, someone!

Thanks, Sisil K.

Hi Sisil,

Do you have the Google toolbar installed?

If so, uninstall it (and the GoogleToolbarUpdate notifier) from the

Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs applet. Restart your computer.

Go to toolbar.google.com to download and install the latest IE8 compatible

version of the Google toolbar.

Also, accept the default security zone settings for IE, Tools>Internet

Options - Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default"

Post back if you still have no joy... You have an incompatible IE Addon and

we can give you instructions on how to troubleshoot the problem. (the google

toolbar problem is the most common one, and your error message indicates

that this is the cause.)

Regards.
