IE7 Question

Sirwriter

I just built a system with Vista Ultimate 64 bit and noticed Adobe Flash will
not run on a 64 bit browser. Adobe says it will run on a 32 bit of course.
Can I run both the 32 and 64 bit browsers in the same OS?
 
Hi, Sirwriter.

Yes. The 32-bit Internet Explorer is included in Vista Ultimate x64.

You should have TWO files, both named iexplore.exe. The one in C:\Program
Files is the 64-bit version the 32-bit version is in C\Program File (x86).
You can run either by simply pointing and clicking. You can even run both
at the same time! The x86 version is the default, unless you've changed it.

To see which version you are currently running, click Help | About Internet
Explorer. If it is the x64 version, it will say say "64-bit Edition" on the
"Version" line. The 32-bit version does not mention the edition.

I'm currently running Vista Ultimate x64 and Internet Explorer 8 Beta, so
there will be slight variations, but not much.

As RC says - yes, you can have both. You can even run both at the same time.
The default is 32-bit IE, since many sites require add-ins that aren't
available for 64-bit IE. However, if you have a 64-bit application, and it
launches IE, it will launch the 64-bit version. Likewise, a 32-bit
application that launches IE will get the 32-bit version. From Windows
Explorer, of course, you can start either one - your choice.
