Hi, I use Eudora emailer. I just reformatted and reinstalled XP
recently and reinstalled Eudora. Now, I don't have the Eudora icon,
just the ugly generic icon.

Any way to get my eudora icon back?

Thanks

Right-click the Eudora shortcut icon, select Properties and use Change

Thanks. When I tried this, I get an error, Windows cannot find the
file %programfiles%\qualcomm\eudora\eudora32.dll

I don't see the connection.
Do you mean you changed the icon to use Eudora.exe and when you
launched it, you got the message for eudora32.dll?
If so, either reinstall Eudora or seek help from the Eudora newsgroup
at comp.mail.eudora.ms-windows

Hi. No, I mean when I tried what you suggested, going to properties,
etc., I got that error msg. Perhaps I didn't understand you. When you
say "Use the icon of Eudora.exe" what do you mean? When I go to
properties, click on "change icon" it gives me that error msg. I can
browse in program files/qualcomm/eudora for icons but alghough I find
icons used by eudora, I can't find the eudora icon.

So anyway, could you elaborate on what you mean by use the icon of
eudora.exe, and how to do that?

I mean use the icon of Eudora.exe (i.e. the icon embedded in
Eudora.exe)
It should be in program files\qualcomm\eudora\eudora.exe according to
your previous post.

If you get the error on a Eudora shortcut, then delete it and create
another shortcut to Eudora.exe

Have you checked that Eudora.exe is where it should be?

Hello Alan. Sorry for my intermittent reply.

I'm not sure I understand. I installed Eudora using the installer, so
I presume it is wherever it thinks it should be. Do you mean, is it in
the Program Files folder? Yes, in Qualcomm, Eudora. I see Eudora.exe
and it has the correct icon. But I don't know how to get that icon.
Using properties, it has not "customize" tab.

Thanks again,
Charles

You should be changing the icon of the shortcut, not the icon of the
..exe

Rightclick the Eudora shortcut (not Eudora.exe), select Properties and
Change Icon and navigate to Eudora.exe (yes, in Qualcomm, Eudora) and
use the icon embedded in Eudora.exe

If you want to use some of the other icons Eudora has, they are in

Eudora\data\eudoracon.dll

I don't have such a file but thanks anyway (or were you talking to the
OP?)

Hi Alan, thanks for sticking with me. When I do that, clicking on
Eudora.exe, it shows a window containing two icons, one envelope with
people behind it (sorta), and one empty box. I don't see "the" Eudora
Icon which is the one you see for eudora.exe and is the one that used
to appear in my shortcut in the start menu for the older Eudora.

I have read somewhere that the new eudora is missing the eudora.dll
file though I have one, and also that the new version uses
eudoraRes.dll instead, but I have tried both of those and not found
the icon.

Thanks but I don't have that folder or that file.

Jim

I am afraid I only have one install of Eudora on my computers and that
is an old one of 5.1 which only has 2 icons. (Envelope and in-tray)
The envelope is the first icon and is normal for the shortcut and the
..exe in my version. I don't know what you mean by "the" icon and I
don't know what version of Eudora you have.
